Tonight kicks off the start of real risk to the President - he names a Supreme Court Justice who Cannot be fired - this will be the first of perhaps 3 appointments to the Court in the next 4 years -- this is where real change is confirmed or denied and the effect of the individual Justice, if confirmed, will be felt for decades

Later this week or perhaps Monday attention will turn to the Fed's Board of Governors appointments -- these appointments will determine how "LAME" the current Chair will be for the next year

Forex Trading Outlook

  • On Tuesday,The BOJ kept policy steady as expected. Not much is expected from the Fed on Wednesday. Fed monetary policy has been slipping into the background following the installation of the Trump Administration which is looking to stimulate the economy via a fiscal stimulus. Markets see almost no chance of a rate hike tomorrow, but nearly 100% odds on a June rate hike.

  • Forex traders got an unexpected surprise early Tuesday when Trump Administration trade advisor Navarro was quoted in the Financial Times saying that Germany has been benefiting from a gross undervaluation of the EUR. Shortly thereafter, German Chancellor Merkel said that she did not want to influence Euro exchange rate and that she has always called upon ECB to have independent policy. The news saw the EURUSD trade from just above the 1.0700 line to above 1.0800. The new news was that it appears that the Trump administration will be pursuing a weak dollar policy if The Navarro comments are not "clarified".

  • For those of us who were around during the last bout of significant USD weakness, it it hard to comprehend how the government would even consider talking down its currency. Once that downward momentum starts, it can be very hard to stop a slide. It is very difficult to understand how there is not someone in the Trump inner circle who does not know this recent history.

  • Early Tuesday saw EZ flash HICP for January surging higher on the back of higher oil prices. Advance 4Q16 GDP grew smartly as well. Some are wondering when the ECB will sit up, take notice, and start to pare back on its overly aggressive monetary policy ease.

the difference between campaigning and governing====

you've got to keep in mind that Trump is NOT A POLITICIAN.
A politician making a campaign promise, when elected, would then put together a committtee of "experts" and give them 7 or 8 months to make recommmendations.
Just like Obama "promised" to make the bankers pay ---- there was great theater, hearings, Eliz Warren turned it into a Senate seat...but in the end NADA.

There is no doubt that the Navarro comment was a "game changer" (weaker USD). Sometimes, I make the mistake of thinking that people in the government know what they are doing. The Trump Administration doesn't seem to realize the difference between campaigning and governing. No one really pays much attention to what a candidate says.

There is a reason why every Treasury Secretary going back to James Baker in the Reagan years has said the U.S. is in favor of a strong and stable USD, even when they are not.

There is a risk of a "clarification" of Navarro's remarks once someone in Europe reaches Trump, but who knows?

The Trump administration just fired the first shot in the US-European currency, and thus trade, wars when Trump's top trade advisor Peter Navarro accused Germany of using a “grossly undervalued” euro to "exploit the US and its EU partners", the FT reported noting the comments are "likely to trigger alarm in Europe’s largest economy." News of the statement sent the EURUSD spiking in the moments after its release.

Forex Trading Outlook

  • The EURUSD continues to trade on both sides of 1.0700 despite a heavy economic calendar. EZ flash HICP for January surged higher. 4Q16 GDP grew smartly as well. Perhaps the ECB might start to sit up and take notice?

  • The BOJ kept policy steady as expected. Not much is expected from the Fed tomorrow. Its funny how mnetary policy has slipped into the background following the U.S. change of government. The focus of trade remains on the economic and political policies being developed by new U.S. President Trump.

  • Today features another active global data calendar. Last weekend saw the start of lunar new year observations. They could impact the volume of trading early in the week.

The US media and other rascals are undermining Trump and introducing Mkt. instability.

"In the 40 years to 2015, not a single American was killed on US soil by citizens from any of the seven countries targeted - Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen - according to research by the conservative-leaning Cato Institute. But the same research shows that in the same period nearly 3000 Americans were killed by citizens of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Turkey — most victims of the September 11 attacks.

And oops, wouldn't you know it, Trump has multimillion-dollar business operations in all those countries.

In 2015, he registered eight hotel-related companies in Saudi Arabia, according to The Washington Post; in Turkey, two luxury towers in Istanbul are licensed to use his name; in Egypt, he has two companies; and in the UAE, he has naming and management deals for two golf courses."

Just blame the media. It's simplier that way

A climactic showdown between Hungary and George Soros is rapidly approaching.

Three weeks after Hungary announced it would launch a crackdown on all George Soros-funded non-governmental organizations, the country's foreign minister doubled down, and told RT that the activities of NGOs funded by George Soros in Hungary are “anti-democratic,” as they want to undermine the government in Budapest.

Investor's Business Daily Editorial

Politics: Three months ago, Candidate Trump promised that on Day One of his presidency he would, if elected, "suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur." President Trump didn't get around to that until Day Seven, which means he was a week late. Yet everyone is acting as if this all came out of the blue.

Are We Going To Freak Out Every Time Trump Does What He Promised?

The Global-View Forex Forum is the hub for currency trading on the web. Founded in 1996, it was the original forex forum and is still the place where forex traders around the globe come 24/7 looking for currency trading ideas, breaking forex news, fx trading rumors, fx flows and more. This is where you can find a full suite of forex trading tools, including a complete fx database, forex chart points, live currency rates, and live fx charts. In addition, there is a forex brokers directory where you can compare forex brokers. There is also a forex brokers hotline where you can ask for help choosing a forex broker that meets your individual fx trading needs. Interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading.

Forex News

The forex forum is where traders come to discuss the forex market. It is one of the few places where forex traders of all levels of experience, from novice to professionals, interact on the same venue to discuss forex trading. There is also the GVI Forex, which is a private subscription service where professional and experienced currency traders meet in a private forex forum. it is like a virtual forex trading room. This is open to forex traders of all levels of experience to view but only experienced currency tradingprofessionals can post.

Currency trading charts are updated daily using the forex trading ranges posted in the Global-View forex database. You will also find technical indicators on the fx trading charts, e.g. moving averages for currencies such as the EURUSD. This is another forex trading tool provided by Global-View.com.

The forex database can be used to access high, low, close daily forex ranges for key currency pairs, such as the EURUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, GBPUSD, USDCAD, AUD, NZD and major crosses, including EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCHF, GBPJPY, GBPCHF and CHFJPY. Data for these currency trading pairs dating back to January 1, 1999 can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.
