Forex Trading Outlook

Items likely to drive the FX rates:
  • U.S. EVENT RISK: Wednesday and Friday: The first week of each month sees Key U.S. employment data. The first item is the ADP private employment estimate which is based on the payroll data it actually processes. Then on Friday, the government releases its official jobs data. because of its detail, this is by far the most important U.S. economic report of the month.

  • EVENT RISK: Global Wednesday- Global Service PMIs. The Service scector tends to dominate most developed economies. It could move markets on Wednesday.Manufacturing PMI data Monday were mixed it can be a very sensitive barometer of the business cycle. One weakness of the PMI data is that they are not "hard" data.

  • EVENT RISK: The Bank of Japan Quarterly Tankan Survey- This BOJ Survey is closely followed locally for Japanese business conditions. Data were a touch weaker. Corporate forecasts (for planning purposes) for the USDJPY exchange rate. USDJPY expectations for FY16/17 107.30 v 104.90. See FY17/18 at 108.43.

  • Lots to consider. Please comment...

Blast in St Petersburg metro station kills 10 - authorities-- Reuters.com

"Ten people were killed and more than 20 were injured when an explosion tore through a train carriage in a St.Petersburg metro tunnel on Monday in what authorities called a probable terrorist attack

Russian news media reported that police were searching for a man recorded on surveillance cameras who was thought to have been involved in the attack, which coincided with a visit to the city by President Vladimir Putin.

A grainy photograph published by the Fontanka news outlet showed a middle aged man with beard and black hat. Interfax news agency cited unnamed sources as saying the bomb, packed with shrapnel, may have been hidden in a train carriage inside a briefcase..."

As noted last night, Journalist and author Mike Cernovich dropped an exclusive bombshell - naming Obama's National Security Advisor Susan Rice as the official responsible for the 'unmasking' of the incoming Trump team during 'incidental' surveillance.

Fox News anchor Adam Housley tweeted on Friday that the surveillance that led to the unmasking began before Trump was the GOP nominee, and that the person who did the unmasking is a "very senior" and "very well known" person in the surveillance community - and not someone in the FBI. Until this morning, the Cernovich report was unconfirmed, with many in the "legacy media" accusing Cernovich, who recently was profiled on 60 Minutes for being a prominent member of the "fake news" dissemination team for being - what else - fake news.

However, Bloomberg's Eli Lake confirmed that it was indeed Susan Rice who was responsible for the repeatedly "unmasking" multiple members of the Trump team, in what may be dubbed yet another "conspiracy" to delegitimize the current US president.

Making matters worse, Rice appears to have lied: while she has not spoken directly on the issue of unmasking, last month when she was asked on the "PBS NewsHour" about reports that Trump transition officials, including Trump himself, were swept up in incidental intelligence collection, Rice said: "I know nothing about this," adding, "I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that account today."

Moscow And Beijing Join Forces To Bypass US Dollar In Global Markets, Shift To Gold Trade

The Russian central bank opened its first overseas office in Beijing on March 14, marking a step forward in forging a Beijing-Moscow alliance to bypass the US dollar in the global monetary system, and to phase-in a gold-backed standard of trade.

According to the South China Morning Post the new office was part of agreements made between the two neighbours "to seek stronger economic ties" since the West brought in sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine crisis and the oil-price slump hit the Russian economy.....

EUR/GBP ROSE AGAIN TO 0.85
Reply

The three-day losing streak in the EUR/GBP appears to have come to a halt this Monday morning in Asia.

The cross was last seen trading around 0.8513 handle. The UK manufacturing number due later today is expected to show the pace of expansion in the activity ticked higher to 55.1 in March from the Feb figure of 54.6.

Currently, EUR/GBP is trading at 0.85063, up + 0.25%, having posted a daily high at 0.85214 and low at 0.84897.

EUR/GBP Technical Levels
A break above 0.8555 (100-DMA) would expose 0.8582 (50-DMA + 5-DMA) and 0.86 (zero figure). On the other hand, a breakdown of support at 0.8485 (Friday’s low) would open doors for a sell-off to 0.8450 (Feb 13 low) and 0.8422 (Feb 23 low).

USD/JPY - 111.34.. Dlr finally pares intra-day loss after falling from Friday's 1-week high of 112.20 (Asia) to 110.13 in Asia after tripping light stops below Friday's 111.25 low (New York) on renewed cross-buying in yen.
However, buying interest emerged n lifted the pair to 111.39/40.

Looks like a temp. low has been made and consolidation with mild upside bias is seen ahead of European open.
Bids are noted at 1112.25-15 and more below with stops reported below 110.90.
Offers are tipped at 111.45/55 with stops above there.
