A Real Big Deal.

The four-page document, circulated to the full House yesterday, is said to detail egregious abuses of surveillance by the FBI, DOJ and Obama administration against the Trump campaign during and after the 2016 US presidential election.
The facts contained in the Republican majority-authored report is said to be "jaw-dropping and demand full transparency," according to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), while the top ranking Democrat on the House Intel Committee, Adam Schiff (D-CA) dismissed the memo as "profoundly misleading" talking points drafted by Republican staffers.

Missing from that missive about poloz hiking rates in canada is that the .25point hike means $20/month more for every $50K tranche of outstanding mortgage.
Ex.: 400K/50 = 8 x $20 = $160 more after-tax out of pocket, each month.
On the other hand (the good side of rising rates) is that savers get tiny bit more (taxable) income and higher interest rate friendly stocks go up in price as well as prospect of yielding higher dividend.

Capital Flight, Debt Crisis and the USD
Reply
Debt crises happen when you have a roll-over problem. Short duration, massive debt and a reliance on foreign creditors makes for a very ugly scenario.
The U.S. is NOT immune to a debt crisis, particularly when it is tearing itself apart over the Trump Presidency, which has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen happen. You don't like it? You vote him out at the next election. You don't go into all-out self-immolation mode. THAT is merely stupid.
What does a debt crisis look like? Spike in interest rates. Credit dries up entirely. The USD gets hit. The economy tanks.

covered deposits and claims under investor compensation schemes should be replaced by limited discretionary exemptions to be granted by the competent authority in order to retain a degree of flexibility. ... during a transitional period, depositors should have access to an appropriate amount of their covered deposits to cover the cost of living within five working days of a request.
In other words... poof goes your 100,000 euro "deposit protection" scheme.
BUT you have to act before vs after they make their "limited discretionary exemptions" as whining ain't gonna cut it.

What is the Forex Sweet Spot?

The Sweet Spot is a term I came up with to describe what I see as the ideal and safest time to trade.
What I found is there is little chance of a correction or reversal when in the Sweet Spot and thus a time when you should be trading with the market on your side.

In order to make money from trading you need to have price movement. In order to have price movement you need volatility. Volatility is cyclical. Without it, moving averages, momentum indicators, overbought/oversold indicators, support and resistance lines etc are essentially useless.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., cautioned Thursday that people die, accidents happen when the government shuts down, as it is poised to partially shut down Friday night if Congress doesnt pass a government spending bill. It was her second shift in position on the bill in just one day.
Shutting down the government is a very serious thing. People die, accidents happen, Feinstein told CNN. You dont know. Necessary functions can cease. There is no specific list you can look at and make a judgment: Well everything is going to be just fine. You cant make that judgment. So, I think its a last resort. And Im really hopeful we dont get to it.
