The US has now put Turkey, Iran and Russia in the same box - Turkey began leaning to the loose Russian Iranian side (Syria/IRAQ) and away from the EU/US (Kurdish support) -- so the currencies of TI&R have been suffering the past year raising the discomfort level of those populations
Turkey is on the verge of capital controls BUT the US is waging geopolitical economic war and "regime change" may be the goal

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A new sanctions move by Washington against Moscow sent Russian markets sharply lower on Thursday, adding impetus to an existing selloff as the rouble hit a two-year low and shares and bonds also tumbled.
The Trump administration said overnight that fresh sanctions were needed after it determined Moscow had used a nerve agent against a former Russian agent and his daughter in Britain, something the Kremlin has repeatedly denied. Russia's embassy in the U.S. called the measures draconian.
The rouble dropped to its weakest level since August 2016, at 66.73, before paring losses to trade at 65.80 by 0915 GMT ...

Equity investors in China are having a torrid time. And the market is the world's worst-performing index so far this year, with over $2tn wiped off its value. The losses are so severe that China has lost its title as the world's second-largest stock market to Japan. So what has caused such a steep plunge?
Donald Trump's trade spat is weighing heavily on Chinese stocks. So far, tariffs apply to $37bn worth of imports, but both sides are threatening to extend them. That would be disastrous for export focused companies. The threat of an escalating trade war also spooks investors, who have pulled their money from the market.
After years of stellar growth, cracks are finally showing in China's economy. And GDP growth in the second quarter was the slowest since 2016. Di Maio Vows Italy Will Use Tough Tactics in EU Budget Battle
Italy is ready to repeat the tough tactics it used to win concessions from the European Union on migration when the forthcoming budget battle gets serious, Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio said.
Italy�s anti-establishment coalition wants enough flexibility to introduce a flat tax and a citizen�s income next year without running foul of EU budget restrictions, Di Maio said in an interview with Bloomberg News Wednesday. He suggested that if the EU changed the way the deficit was calculated then his government�s plans could be implemented without breaching the limit.
Italian 10-year yields spiked to an intraday high and the spread to German bunds widened after the comments from the leader of the Five Star Movement. The yield on 10-year bonds rose 4 basis points to 2.91 percent.

no deal hedges are now being placed in earnest and a no deal scenario is going to be priced in eventually. from this there is no coming back unless the two sides get a deal. for eurgbp that means at least parity/1.05 and for cable, at least whatever eurusd is or lower numerically.
