Project FEAR - BREXIT.
Past two days, Just a sample of how much you will suffer---Brxiteers.

The CDC:Update (1300ET): Canada just followed in the steps of the CDC, as its chief drug regulator warned that it's "too soon" to say wwhether the new mutation will impact Canada in a serious way, following a similar remark earlier in the day.

Now, despite the EU's practically non-stop warnings, anxiety about the new variation is growing intensely.

Update (1145ET): As the world continues to panic about the new COVID mutation discovered in southern England (while others wonder about the 'hard evidence', of which there appears to be none), the CDC has officially weighed in for the first time, with the agency stating that there's "no evidence" the variation causes more severe illness, or in any way increases the risk of death.

The variant, which is knownby the name "B.1.1.7." also has yet to be identified by scientists in the US, though former FDA chief Scott Gottlieb said during an interview earlier that the new strain has almost certainly already made its way here.

Here's the rest of the executive summary:

A new variant strain of SARS-CoV-2 that contains a series of mutations has been described in the United Kingdom (UK) and become highly prevalent in London and southeast England. Based on these mutations, this variant strain has been predicted to potentially be more rapidly transmissible than other circulating strains of SARS-CoV-2. Although a variant may predominate in a geographic area, that fact alone does not mean that the variant is more infectious. Scientists are working to learn more about this variant to better understand how easily it might be transmitted and whether currently authorized vaccines will protect people against it. At this time, there is no evidence that this variant causes more severe illness or increased risk of death. Information regarding the virologic, epidemiologic, and clinical characteristics of the variant are rapidly emerging. CDC, in collaboration with other public health agencies, is monitoring the situation closely. CDC will communicate new information as it becomes available.

The CDC also clarified some basic facts about the mutated variant discovered in South Africa, which has been reported to be the same as the strain found in southern England, was actually formed by a completely separate series of mutations, not migration from the UK to SA.

For the rest of this week, look at 2200 to remain a magnet for EUR/USD. Price is going down slowly due to selling, but the 200h SMA (currently 2185 or so) is still rising and has not been permanently breached.

Without some obvious reason to push price one way or the other, look for the status quo to remain until the wacky time between Christmas and New Years Day.

No use fighting over fish... Conservation efforts and a moratorium on fishing would be wonderful for both the EU and UK economies. If many other countries follow the same principle then we can consider it even more wonderful, not only for the EU and UK economies but in addition to their own and neighbouring economies too. On a wider and grander scale, much better for the world economy as a whole too. It is the need of the hour if we can call it that.

Many years ago in my part of the world, there was a conflict between Native Americans and "the locals" (non-Native Americans) over fishing in one of our many lakes. As I recall the conflict, the locals were restricted by law to hook-and-line fishing only, in the traditional manner.

However, the Native Americans had rights by treaty to use any means at their disposal to catch fish. Imagine the anger of the locals as they watched the Native Americans using spear guns and nets to haul giant catches of fish. The locals were lucky to catch a few with a rod and reel, and the Natives were draining the lake of fish with their spear guns.

The local news reported many fights in that period. I don't know what became of the lake after that.

Is Lagarde trying to kill the European banks?

Years of negative interest rates have eroded lenders’ bottom lines. European banks have shrunk their workforce by a fifth since the global financial crisis, jettisoned unprofitable units and exited riskier businesses—to no avail. The global pandemic has heightened their vulnerabilities, driving stock prices to record lows. And the gap between European banks and U.S. rivals such as JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Morgan Stanley has only grown since 2008.

The gossip all falls along the same lines...Doctor Who gets "woke" (politically correct) and goes "broke" (massive loss of viewers), politicians in UK on brink of cancelling TV license requirement, BBC falls (they can't survive without TV license revenue).
