NIOSH-certified N95 respirators that have not been cleared by the FDA can be used for respiratory protection to reduce the exposures of healthcare personnel in a patient setting to hazardous particulates. These respirators have not been evaluated by FDA to determine whether they meet the fluid and flammability resistance as required for FDA clearance as medical devices. For this reason, they are not intended for use in exposure settings where the performance of a surgical mask to maintain a sterile field is required.
N95 respirators that are both certified by NIOSH and cleared by the FDA as medical devices for use by healthcare personnel are called �surgical N95 respirators.� As with all NIOSH-certified N95 respirators, these products have been evaluated by the NIOSH certification process and have demonstrated that they can filter out a minimum of 95% of airborne particles under worst case test conditions. These products have also been evaluated by the FDA to have demonstrated an acceptable level of fluid and flame resistance, which may be important in healthcare occupational settings, such as surgical suites. The FDA clearance process also requires that these products have labeling that is relevant to healthcare personnel, such as information about the presence of natural rubber latex.

you are confusing the issue. Health care workers, EMTs, First responders...etc do not require surg grade N95 masks...(approved for use by the FDA in a sterile envronment.
The issue is after 'giving The Word from the Surg Gen' that masks don't do any good - stop buying them' They reconsider, do a 180, Add a penaltly for NOT WEARING A MASK
Then Resrtict the Sale....on the very same day the start to require that masks be worn in public.
This cannot be a coincidence.

From what I've seen, doctors do not like to leave patients connected to a ventilator. It not only ties up an expensive piece of equipment, but the patient starts to become dependent on the ventilator. The longer a patient is hooked up, the less that they'll be able to breathe on their own.
So doctors do everything they can to quickly "wean" the patient off the ventilator...like temporarily stopping it for a few seconds or a few minutes or a few hours at a time, and watching the vital signs like blood pressure, blood oxygen percentage, pulse, things like that.
Nobody will be let out of the hospital immediately after being disconnected from a ventilator...they'll spend a while just lying in a bed first, to make sure that they can breathe on their own.

$1,000 fine to residents caught without a mask in Laredo, Texas
Laredo will be requiring every resident older than 5 years old to wear some sort of mask when going out in public. That includes when going to the store or even pumping gas.
This comes as the US Surgeon General changed its tone after learning there's a good amount of asymptomatic spread of the virus. They're now asking the CDC to discuss whether or not people should be wearing the masks to help prevent the spread.

Ah sorry I thought you were referring to gbp/chf. I don't really do the 20-30 pip thing so for me eur/chf is only a long term buy or sell. I think it goes to 1.0000 but have no position. Have a look at the 5 year chart for usd/chf. Its a horizontal band around 97.50. Blips up a little and down a little but otherwise horizontal. On that basis my eur/chf view is basically a eur view....
In other worlds I have no positions at the moment. Was taken out of all short positions thru short puts. Feels a little like fx has lost the plot a little now that quarter end flows have dried up....

One of my parents spent their last days on an ICU-grade ventilator.
They are not the cheap pieces of junk that the masses have been led to believe. They are basically air pumps with sophisticated computers and sensors. Set one up the wrong way, and the patient will either not breathe any more because they are not getting enough air, or the patient's lungs will blow out because the ventilator is pumping out too much air.
$40k is cheap for what those things do.

This is taking the basic hand pumped air bag that the EMT will use to pump air. The engineering involved is attaching a motor to do the pumping. A Michigan engineering college designed one last week that will cos about $100. These can be used at home/don't require hospitalization.

Tariffs on Saudi crude?
There are a lot of headlines coming out of the energy sector after Whiting Petroleum (NYSE:WLL) became the first U.S. shale producer to file for bankruptcy amid an oil price war. The coronavirus epidemic is also weighing heavily on prices, triggering President Trump to summon oil CEOs to the White House tomorrow. Under discussion is potential aid to the industry, including tariffs on oil imports from Saudi Arabia, and a waiver of the Jones Act, which requires American vessels be used to transport goods including oil between U.S. ports.

That liquidity gets taxed by the ECB which is telling everybody she will do whatever it takes to boost liquidity.

a) much usd demand reqd by uk banks and corps, this now needs to be unwound
b) us ib are convinced there will be no brexit and loading up relatively cheap sterling
c) unlike europe, the uk is open to takeovers. sterling is cheap vs usd and us corps will start sniffing.
johnson has already said no extension to transition period. the last day to extend is july 1st this year. due to virus, there has been little progress on post exit rules, so if anything the uk is closer to a hard exit than at start of year. 83-88 a zone to position for parity to 1.05.

How Draghi's NIRP made the Coronacrisis so much worse.

In the times before Draghi, Europe had real interest rates in positive territory.
Most European citizens had savings in the bank which had a real return and which could help them along for a few months in case of misfortune.
Comes along Super Mario, who trying to help Italy borrow more and more, puts Euro interest rates in negative territory.
Consequence, some Europeans start to spend their savings on multiple leisures ( nice cars, second residences in Spain or Greece, expensive Champagne etc ). These are the lucky ones.
Another part starts to invest in the stock market buying super save assets ( airlines, oil companies, banks, car manufacturers etc) Thes are little less lucky.
Comes along the Coronavirus and the lockdown. Nobody has savings because of Draghi's financial repression, the stock markets crash because there is no activity. Governments and the ECB panic.
A lot of this thanks to Super Hero Mario's financial repression which brought him the highest German MEDAL - ORDER OF MERIT.
My grandchildren will not give me �10 when I tell them that I will give them �9.5 back. Why should we?
Negative rates was, is and always will be a crazy concept.

Note that 'The European Project' until a very short while ago was very, very unpopular right across Europe, except among the Proto-Fascist powers-that-be. FEAR, if you can get it going, can allow our dear leaders to force through all sorts of legislation on the agenda.
Personally I would be very happy to see the European Project undermined but right now.... that's not gonna happen. Calls for solidarity and standing together, yada, yada, yada.

Prime Minister Conte's government is appealing to the European partners to "coordinate" fiscal policy in the EU. Italy, together with other euro countries such as Spain, is calling for so-called "corona bonds" to be issued, i.e. the joint issue of government bonds by the euro countries. However, Germany, in particular, has so far been strictly opposed to this.
One small remark.
Fiscal policy has always been coordinated in the EU( 3% and 60%) but most of the countries including Italy never bothered to follow the rules.

In Europe all countries and especially France want Germany and other counties with budgetary space to pay for this Coronacrisis.
It doesn't work like that. In a club there are rules and member who don't follow the should basically not be in the club.
Everybody who wants now solidarity forgot to bring their own home in order when the economy was booming. Macron, who was minister of economy under Hollande forgot to bring the French budget under control. Do people have such a short memory?

fwiw tomorrows nfp ref wk is march 12th, claims then were unmoved, so don't expect a too bad fig tomorrow. it will surprise to upside but should be disregarded.
