https://jonathanturley.org/2020/06/01/minnesota-city-council-member-declares-support-for-antifa/

While many have condemned Antifa and similar groups for destroying Minneapolis and other cities, Minneapolis city council member for Ward 5 (and son of the Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison) Jeremiah Ellison tweeted Sunday that he is not among them. Indeed, he is declaring his support for Antifa. Some of us have long opposed Antifa as a vehemently anti-free speech group. Ellison does not seem to include free speech among his priorities for voters in Ward 5.

Ellison tweeted:

“I hereby declare, officially, my support for ANTIFA,” Ellison said. “Unless someone can prove to me ANTIFA is behind the burning of black and immigrant owned businesses in my ward, I’ll keep focusing on stopping the white power terrorist THE ARE ACTUALLY ATTACKING US!”

ZH: Range bound ES ---3000 - 3065...'attractor' 3050...based on Option positioning .

That's not just an optical illusion based on some scribbles on a chart, because as Nomura's Charlie McElligott points out in his latest quant update, the "gravity" of the S&P futs 3050 strike remains apparent, with +$1.4B in dealer Gamma at that level, which together with +$1.6B at 3,000 and another +1.9B up at 3,100 is keeping the S&P tightly "surrounded" by dealer positioning.

COVID survivor receives $840,000 statement for treatment, with more on the way
Reply
CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Robert Dennis spent weeks in the hospital, fighting and beating the coronavirus. He’s now back at home, working his way through recovery, but he’s not done with the virus entirely just yet. The high school teacher just received his first itemized statement for the cost of his care: $840,386.94.

“Seeing that number yesterday for the first bill it kind of took your breath away again,” Robert’s wife Suzanne, who also beat the virus, told Denver7.

The statement covers Robert’s time at Sky Ridge Medical Center, where he was in the intensive care unit and intubated for two weeks

Johnathan Turley.

Yesterday we discussed the four arrests associated with two attacks on New York police officers using Molotov cocktails. It is now being reported that one of the defendants arrested, Colinford Mattis, 32, is a furloughed Pryor Cashman associate. Mattis is a graduate of New York University and Princeton University. He was reportedly arrested with a second attorney in the attack. Mattis is accused of driving a van and passenger Urooj Rahman, 31, threw a Molotov cocktail. Rahman is reportedly a human rights lawyer but also recently lost her job.

An NYPD surveillance camera reportedly recorded Rahman throwing the device toward a NYPD vehicle in Fort Greene.

Markets are again proving immune to violence: Stocks have a history of rallying after riots, from the US in 1968 to London in 2011. S&P 500 plunged in 1969, but the social and political trauma of 1968 wasn’t reflected contemporaneously in stocks.

The only way is up with the FED and ECB buying whatever asset they can lay their hands on.

Fed balance sheet increases to $7.1 trillion

ECB balance sheet close to € 6.0 billion

By buying bond ETF's. FED and ECB also buy bonds of bankrupt companies that will be most likely converted into equities.

So basically FED and ECB already are buying equities whatever they say.

Billions Going to China’s Quants Takes Fight to Global Funds
Reply
As China was welcoming in the world’s largest hedge funds four years ago, a Hangzhou-based quantitative fund was burning through motherboards and buying the wrong types of servers as it figured out machine learning.

Those “silly mistakes” quickly made way for Zhejiang High-Flyer Asset Management’s integration of machine learning into the strategies it uses to invest its 20 billion yuan ($2.8 billion) in assets, said Chief Executive Simon Lu. It now boasts its own super computer, a 60-strong team of engineers and data scientists and a confidence that belies its five years in the business.

relates to Billions Going to China’s Quants Takes Fight to Global Funds
Simon LuPhotographer: Sun Xiaowen

Of the foreign competition that would once have been hard to fend off, it’s now a question of “who’s the best shooter when everyone has the same caliber gun,” Lu said. “The ability to understand the local market cannot be replicated or acquired that fast.”

High-Flyer is among Chinese quant funds closing the technological gap with veterans like D.E. Shaw & Co. and Two Sigma Investments LP as the U.S. firms make inroads on their home turf. Ranked as 2019’s No. 1 stock hedge fund by data provider Shanghai Suntime Information Technology Co., High-Flyer drew more assets last year than the combined collections of the dozens of foreign funds jostling for a piece of the market.
