Look for a huge rise in speakeasy establishments, smuggling and black market goods in the US. The plain and very ugly truth is that a lot of very nasty people are using a disease to inflict economic and social pain on others.
If you thought black market booze, smokes, drugs and guns were bad, you ain't see nuthin yet. Watch for black market food and medicine in the US, because it's coming. Better that than the Holodomor that these people are dreaming up.

The WSJ, which has seen a copy of the State Department speech to be delivered Thursday afternoon, describes that it more or less calls for a people's uprising in Communist-run China:
Mr. Pompeo says Chinese leader Xi Jinping is a “true believer in a bankrupt totalitarian ideology.” Mr. Pompeo stops shy of explicitly calling for regime change, urging allied countries and the people of China to work with the U.S. to change the Communist Party’s behavior.
And more:
The Communist Party “fears the Chinese people’s honest opinions more than any foreign foe,” Mr. Pompeo plans to say in the speech at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum. The U.S. “must also engage and empower the Chinese people,” Mr. Pompeo says, according to the draft.

deadly silence from CB officials on gold yet close to ath of 1921. now if this breaks higher it may see a similar move to what recently was seen in euro through 115. 2000 might be seen in a short time especially if they restart the money train (more stimulus). and breaking 2k would have serious implications for the dollar. at some point dollar weakness will cause foreigners to exit the us stock martket and the natives will also follow. inflation is good for stocks til its no good for stocks anymore.

Exhaustion of buyers when price is moving up, or alternately exhaustion of sellers when price is moving down. If nobody is buying then price won't move up, and if nobody is selling then price won't go down.

The dynamic for EUR/USD seems to be not so much "run into resistance" (or support), but rather "run until exhaustion" (no more stops to run). This is supported by whatever funnymentals (narrative of the day) one might wish to invoke.
The bottom line is that we probably won't see big-time selling until the buying actually stops, and price ain't moving anymore. Until then, you use every minor dip (minor sale) as a buying opportunity, thereby providing the fuel to move towards 1.17.
Let's see what happens at 1600 first.

i have 11628 first. can reach that fail and then fall back to under 116 to mark a st high if thats how things are to play out. then that 11538 which held today because even more imp. however, as yest, as strong finish today argues for a test higher at some point tomorrow. if they go str8 up to 11628 it adds flavour to the fail argument. however, if dips first, then likely to try higher later, as per today.
Minneapolis DRS2 14:43 GMT July 23, 2020

Given the dip to 1540, perhaps the more modest target of 1660 is in order. That would be an even 100 pips, a nice range for a crazy Ivan (sweep the stops on both sides).

Recession-Shocked Savers Rein In Rates With a $20 Trillion Hoard
...cautious households are taking with respect to expenditures, a factor that is likely to persist for some time,” said Crescenzi and that "substantial amount of savings deposits on bank balance sheets is likely to impart downward pressure on market interest rates."
eeiiha ! the more demoralized into caution consumers save the less interest on it they ll recieve ! so... what are the odds of a tilt into negative rates, perhaps to jilt the cautious consumer into liberating some of saved dollars ? $20 Trillion is likely bigger than the in-recession GDP.

The money is not even close to arriving and the fun has begun. Madrid and Catalonia regions are claiming rights to a larger percentage of the grant money with the other autonomous regions delegated to the majority of the loan portion. In addition Madrid and Catalonia claiming around €325 per inhabitant which scales down to around €65 per inhabitant in the lesser populated regions. The rational goes that the Madrid and Catalonia regions were hit harder and therefore should be due more of the relief. No mention of initial crisis mismanagement as a cause.
