Then we - u, me etc - would likely have a fresh new trading opp in russian response say by cutting targeted energy supplies. A non-negligible sub-opportinity could source from nerved out interbank payments and overall market liquidity issues.

well gunfire is a version of "talks" . just that it is rather harsh.

perusing various western 'leaders' and MSM headlines screaming widening sanctions and variously "helping" "democracy" in Ukraine makes me think of it as an invitation to Vlad that he has nothing to lose by going for all the marbles.
Now it is possible that Russia gets bogged down in Ukraine.
On the other hand Russia gets a chance to clean things up (Nuland's cookies)
and then the focus on getting paid from countries that messed around when they should have stayed out. In that sense, there's no better time than now.
