Quiet Pre-Holiday Trade
Markets are already starting to wind down for New Years, which is the most universal holiday of the year. Some markets will be closed tomorrow, while some will close early. Some U.S. markets will close early Thursday, but it will be a full session for equities trading. As a result, market participation should be reduced today, which means that price swings could be large at some times and small at others.
Equities are soft at this hour. Oil was hit late yesterday by an unexpected build in the API data. EIA data today will be watched for confirmation. U.S. Pending Homes sales, which are an early indicator of Existing Homes Sales are due.
