Short term vs. long term trading

Trading is a versatile job. Only a few people in the financial world can make a decent profit out of trading. To be precise 95 percent of the people are failing to make money and only 5 percent are consistently profitable. Most of the people fail to make money in this industry due to their lack of knowledge and trading discipline. If you truly want to become professional forex traders then you should have a clear understanding of the forex market.

There are many forms of trading in the forex market. If you truly want to become a professional trader then you should know all the major's forms of trading. Out of different trading strategies, the most popular trading are short term and long term trading. Another form of trading is the swing trading and most of the professional trader consider it as long term trading.

Trading the shorter time frame is considered as short term trading. Professional traders execute their trade in the market and usually close their trade with few minutes or hours. These type of trading is very much popular in the forex industry since many traders prefer quick profit making system. Some of the professional traders also use advanced trading platform for short term trading since price feed needs to be extremely good in short term trading.

Long term trading is not that much popular lie short term trading. However, most of the professional trader use the long term trading technique. Long term traders usually hold their trading position for a day or even a week. Long term trading is extremely profitable and traders usually don’t need any advanced charting software or tools for long term trading. Many professional traders are making a huge amount of money simply by using the mt4 trading platform.

AS a professional trader you should choose which type of trader you will become. Most of the short-term traders are anxious about the long-term position that why they prefer short-term trading. But short term trading takes immense pressure since you will be trading with high volume in the market and with tight stop loss. To be the precise short time frame traders have the potentiality to earn more money in a quick time and similarly, they will also lose more money very quickly.

Long term traders are comparatively conservative traders. They use the higher time take their trade with wider stop loss. That means they are executing their order in the market with low lot size since they need to afford higher stop loss in the market. They make money in the long period of time and similarly their losing trades hit the potential stop loss very slowly.

If you prefer conservative way trading and like smooth and calm trading environment then long term trading is the best choice for you. As a long term trader, you will use the higher timeframe in the chart which means you will have huge time for the execution of your trade. Most of the traders use price action trading strategy in long term trading technique. They always make sure that they trading in favor of the long-term prevailing trend in the market.

The short time frame traders are also called scalpers in the forex market. The scalper uses the minute one-time frame or higher to trade the different financial assets in the market. But most of the professional scalpers always take trade in the direction of the long-term prevailing trend in the market. They always make sure that they are taking trade in the market by limiting their risk.

If you chose to be scalper then chose to be scalper then choosing the right broker for you is extremely important. For instance, the long-term trader can easily trade in the market which have comparative higher spread but as a scalper, you should be extremely cautious about the spread in the market. If you spread is a way to big then you won’t be making in profit by trading the short time frame since most of the profit will be lost by paying for your spread.

Professional short term trader always uses the fundamental news releases in the market as their key profit making time. On the event of the fundamental news release, the market becomes extremely volatile. Increase volatility gives the unique opportunity to the short-term traders to make a quick profit within a very short period of time. This type of traders also known as news traders in the financial industry.

The long term traders always trade the market based on price action trading strategy or swing trading strategy. Many professional long term trader also uses the Fibonacci retracement tools to execute their trade in the major retracement levels. But in order to become a long-term trader, you must have an understanding of the technical and fundamental analysis of the forex industry. Lastly, you also need to understand the market sentiment very precisely. Market sentiment is extremely power in forex trading and most of the time the market moves in the direction of the market sentiment.

Trading can be extremely difficult if you don’t pick the right style of trading technique. As a professional trader, you should pick which trading strategy suits your personality. If you are not comfortable with your trading strategy then you will not be able to make a decent profit in the market. Most of the professional traders in the financial industry are making tons of money since they have developed their own trading strategy based on their personality. Last but not the least always remember to use proper risk management factors regardless of your trading style.
