It is being said that Merkel won a "Nightmare Victory" Sunday with center parties losing ground to the extreme right and left parties. As a result it is expected that it will take until yearend to form a coalition and that when one is formed, it will be difficult to manage. unrelated, today saw the release of a weaker than expected German IFO survey for September. As a result, the EUR is weaker. Note Bond yields are lower on what appears to be a mild flight to safety. Today's calendar sees no more major releases.
The EURUSD HOD so far has been 1.1937, while the LOD has been 1.1896. The focus has shifted back to the EURUSD and today it is the 1.1900 line. Use it as an indication of the EURUSD trading bias. The yield on the U.S. 10-yr Note was last 2.252%, -0.1.bp. The 2.25% level could prove pivotal. Use the 10-yr note yield as your short-hand sentiment barometer.
