Is There a Difference Between Forex Trading Advice, Signals, Calls?

The following is from a discussion on the merits of and differenes between forex trading advice, trading signals and trade calls. My approach, described in the post time stamped 11:04:09 GMT  highlights the importance in staying in control of your risk.

Note AT is short for the Amazing Trader. Contact me (see link below) to send your thoughts I can use for a follow up article.

Sometimes, I think trading advice should be labeled "for experts only". Or maybe, "don't do this at home". Making trading decisions using multiple pairs should be treated in the same way as thinking in one timeframe while trading another...for experts only.

It's sort of like deer hunting in the back woods where I am. An expert deer hunter knows all about the weather, how deer migrate from one place to another, and all sorts of useful details. The more, shall I say, "pedestrian" hunter knows only where the deer are, how to stalk up on them, and how to raise their rifle and shoot them. The weather and migration patterns are useful and interesting as a background story, but the pedestrian hunter is just trying to put dinner on the table.

Personally, I relegate cross-pair action to the back of my mind as "analysis" thinking. Maybe I'll be able to adequately use it someday after years of experience, but for now I'll be quite happy with more basic lessons...cut losses fast, let winners run, don't chase trades that don't deserve chasing. (I still have to work on that last one.) The action on one pair is good enough for me and my skill level.

The problem with either of those terms is that unless precisely stated, they are open to wide interpretations, even to those with vast experience. Even your average "trade call" is nothing more than a prediction of price action. Yes, EUR/USD may drop to does that help me? Should I put a trade on right now, or let price rise back above 1.10 or even higher first? Hell if I know, and I don't think anybody else knows either. I use the Amazing Trader to guide the side to trade.

If there is any distinction I make, it is the distinction between ANALYSIS and TRADING. ANALYSIS is what most people do, and to be blunt constitute most of the traffic on trading forums. Price is going this or that way, this is what might happen with the next news event, this is what the ECB or Fed will do, etc. Fun to talk about, but I want to eat dinner.

TRADING will get me that dinner. Sell EUR/USD now because it looks like it will go down, but put a tight stop on it because President Trump and some other a**hole traders might know just what to do when everybody is selling. And let's face it...Donald Trump is the biggest a**hole trader of all in the United States.

Analysis vs trading. That is the distinction to make.

The issue with trade calls or signals is it requires you to accept the risk in the call/signal. This could see those following taking on more risk that they are comfortable with.

My approach is to concentrate on the side to trade, how to use an AT line as a stop and enter a trade against it. If the stop is too far away then either ignore the trade or wait for a trade within your risk tolerance. In other words, we show you the strategy to use, when to trade, how to execute a trade and where ti place your stop  but you control your trading decision and only take trades that suit how much risk you are willing to take.

The alternative in each case is to reduce leverage so you do not go beyond your risk tolerance.
