For nearly three weeks, Baltimore has struggled with a cyberattack by digital extortionists that has frozen thousands of computers, shut down email and disrupted real estate sales, water bills, health alerts and many other services.

But here is what frustrated city employees and residents do not know: A key component of the malware that cybercriminals used in the attack was developed at taxpayer expense a short drive down the Baltimore-Washington Parkway at the National Security Agency,

After Reading This, You'll Probably Never Want To Eat Genetically-Modified Food Again

most Americans don’t even realize that genetically-modified corn has actually been designed to produce “built-in pesticide in every cell”…

GM corn and cotton are engineered to produce their own built-in pesticide in every cell. When bugs bite the plant, the poison splits open their stomach and kills them. Biotech companies claim that the pesticide, called Bt — produced from soil bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis’ has a history of safe use, since organic farmers and others use Bt bacteria spray for natural insect control. Genetic engineers insert Bt genes into corn and cotton, so the plants do the killing.

The Bt-toxin produced in GM plants, however, is thousands of times more concentrated than natural Bt spray, is designed to be more toxic, has properties of an allergen, and unlike the spray, cannot be washed off the plant.

A traffic jam of climbers in the Everest "death zone" was blamed for two of four new deaths reported Friday, heightening concerns that the drive for profits is trumping safety on the world's highest peak.

Nepal has issued a record 381 permits costing $11,000 each for the current spring climbing season

Donald Lynn Cash, 55, collapsed at the summit as he was taking photographs, while Anjali Kulkarni, also 55, died while descending after reaching the top.
Kalpana Das, 52, reached the summit but died on Thursday afternoon while descending.

"Spending a long time above the death zone increases the risk of frostbite, altitude sickness and even death,"

This is actually a pretty interesting conversation. And I don't disagree. The thing is it's kind of been like this for a long time (obviously). So why now or soon or even over the course of a year? The reality is the SNB does a pretty masterful job of keeping the CHF 'pegged' in its range. They buy USD on dips and then sell out of the money USD calls. They support the downside and get the market long on USD strength from higher levels by exercising the calls which takes them out of the trade so they can repeat on the next round of USD weakness / CHF strength. It could go on like this for a really long time. End of the day the question is are an undervalued CHF and fiscal surpluses really a problem?

a long time ago, just celebrating my 40 anniversary in Forex Trading - but still alive :) … I love in General just watching this Forum - the comments have changed from medium term Outlooks 20 years ago or so - to super short term thinking nowadays - i love the AT - comments from PAR - think we started our Career together … just one Thing is of importance to me … we got a dime out of EUR-CHF trading the last 10 years or so … now it seems to be all regulated an stable in 112-114 for ever - option volatilities are very low and so on … USD-CHF trading not existent - markets are obviously stable - only our balance sheet in Switzerland shows every month billions of surpluses despite the obviuosly overvalued Swissy … watch out guys - this is gonna change , I guess … could be another blood bath , but we will watch the markets in the meantime - but a USD ag CHF - at -.90 cents would not hurt in any means and be more reality related - have super fun in trading - great weekend.

Bill Evans, chief economist at Westpac, points out that Westpac is now forecasting three cuts in 2019 in June; August and November to push the cash rate from 1.5% to 0.75% and to hold at that level through 2020.

This view is supported by NAB who concur with the June and August cuts but view further action in February 2020. They are reluctant to predict a further 25 bp cut but may be expecting some form of QE.

Westpac see the unemployment rate drifting up to 5.4% by year’s end; economic growth at 2.2% for 2019; underlying inflation at 1.4%; and the housing market still weak although approaching stability.
