CB- good point. I like Yellen but acting or sounding like a politician does not sit well with me.

But I thought that the Chair of the Federal Reserve was not supposed to be a POLITICIAN?
Politicians commonly tell real-life stories to connect with voters and illustrate policy proposals. While the images can be powerful, there are risks.
“Real-people examples are very powerful and they’re very dangerous at the same time,” Roy said. “When you’re talking about the Fed, people have no idea what the Fed does. If you can relate it to Main Street and real people it can be very powerful.”
since you put it so vividly... lol
reminds me of that Buffet character ... cone of icecream in one hand, hamburger in the other mingling amongst the commoners... building a reputation and an image

don't you think it's telling that the Chair of the Fed Reserve is now stooping to cheap political tactics...not only holding forward average (media consultant expert approved) amuricans as examples of "what it's like on main street. But actually personnally speaking to them? But then she is just a regular outerborrough "mench".
Next thing someone will be invited to "have a beer with Janet". Or more in keeping with the newly appparent image of Grandma...milk and oreos... does Janet split them and lick the creamy center first....oooooo...rasing rates....or does she just take a bite......ooooooooo UnTaper.

CB 16:01 ... plz... pretty please , next time you link to another socio-commie NYT rag's piece , please tag it suchly.
Had Yellen been a male and the three Chicago-area residents Dorine, Jermaine and Vicki been Jack, Peter and Thomas instead I d have labelled it as a mutual dick-holding fest. Instead it sounds like a wussification.. good luck to Dorine, Jermaine and Vicki paying rent and a meal on Yellen's "hope" of commiserating their misery and their diminished futures.

Janet L. Yellen, the new Federal Reserve chairwoman, said Monday that Americans have plenty of reason to feel as if the economy is still in recession, and that the central bank remains determined to improve the situation.
In her first public speech, Ms. Yellen, said that even now, almost five years after the official end of the Great Recession, it remains harder for Americans to find jobs than in the midst of a typical downturn. For those who are working, wages are rising more slowly than usual.
“There remains no doubt that the economy and the job market are not back to normal health,” Ms. Yellen said. “The recovery still feels like a recession to many Americans and it also looks that way in some economic statistics.”
We have had six years of monetary policy having to carry the load. Its main achievement has been to drive up asset prices and deprive savers of a decent return on their savings. Its time for fiscal policy to do its job. That, however, is unlikely to occur.

It will be interesting to see what evolves as new FOMC govs are approved - will she be a leader or consensus builder? -- forget inflation or employment Yellen probably knows rates are too low - will she kick that over to Fischer??
