read 2014 Winter --- the Year of the Polar Vortex. 2 plus years ago and the New Admin is fighting to Undo the Illusions that have been promugalted as "saving the Planet so our grandchildren don't die".
This is/was Enron 2.0. Lesson learned from Enron 1.0: baldfaced manipulation of the electricity markets is tooooo obvious. Couch it in the mantle of Saving the Planet and..... The funny thing is that the Liberal areas that hold to this religious doctrine suffer(pay) the most. But isn't that the way of most western religions.

taxes rate for the companies who own the grid go down.
"middle class" tax cuts should help pay the higher bills to the grid owning companies that gonna keep most of it because they pay less taxes now.
that gap in society just get larger, what's the true solution?

Back a couple years ago,
Utility companies across New England had been warning customers to expect sharp price increases, for which the companies blamed the continuing shortage of pipeline capacity to bring natural gas to the region.
New England already pays the highest electricity rates of any region in the 48 contiguous states because it has no fossil fuels of its own and has to import all of its oil, gas and coal. In September, residential customers in New England paid an average retail price of 17.67 cents per kilowatt-hour; the national average was 12.94 cents.
Now that the higher bills are starting to arrive, many stunned customers are finding the sticker shock much worse than they imagined.

World's Most Expensive Natural Gas
New Englandís current energy woes are the result of years of state and federal policies aimed at closing coal and oil-fired power plants, largely as part of the regionís effort to fight global warming.
In 2000, New England got about 18 percent of its electricity from coal plants. Now, the region gets around 3 percent ó though itís jumped to 6 percent in the recent cold snap.
Most of the shuttered capacity has been replaced by natural gas, but pipeline capacity has not kept up with demands from power plants.
When temperatures drop, natural gas demand spikes as residents clamor to stay warm. But, like in 2014, New Englandís pipeline capacity hasnít expanded enough to fully meet demand during such cold snaps.
Environmentalists have contributed to the problem by protesting large pipeline projects power operators wanted to increase gas deliveries.

World's Most Expensive Natural Gas
Natural Gas Intelligence reported Thursday that natural gas spot price traded as high as $175/MMBtu in New York City where NYMEX futures have been averaging below $3/MMBtu.
Freeze offs helped limit gas supplies while demand spiked. Genscape reported production freeze-offs in Texas impacting about 1.2 Bcf/d of Permian Basin production month-to-date versus the previous two-week average. Alberta also reported gas well freeze-offs driving AECO, Alberta's natural gas price benchmark to soar 72% Between Christmas and New Year.
This price disparity underscores the inadequate energy infrastructure at the U.S. Northeast region. The current gas transporting capacity is not enough to haul gas from gas producing basins to meet the sudden spike of heating demand in the region. Bloomberg reported that gas in Northeast region is the world's priciest
Unlike crude oil which is traded on global markets, natural gas is still quite regional with demand mainly driven by weather.
