On February 23rd, 2018, Coinbase notified a group of approximately 13,000 customers concerning a summons from the IRS regarding their Coinbase accounts.
Please refer to this document for the court's judgment. The court ordered Coinbase to provide taxpayer ID, name, birth date, address, and historical transaction records for certain higher-transacting customers during the 2013-2015 period.

Bitcoin hackers hijack thousands of UK government computers with visitors’ machines also infected by virus that helps criminals ‘mine’ digital currencies - DailyMail
Websites, including those belonging to the Information Commissioner’s Office, Student Loans Company and Scottish NHS helpline, were infected with a virus
As a result visitors had their computers used to help criminals make more money
The cyber criminals planted a virus called Coinhive in the websites' software
When users clicked on the sites the virus was transferred to their own computers
Up to 4,700 websites have been affected worldwide.
The Senate Bill 1091, which intends to enable cryptocurrencies for tax payment, was introduced Jan. 10, 2018 and passed by the Senate Finance Committee by a 4-3 vote on Jan. 24. On Feb. 8, the Senate passed the bill by a 16-13 margin, with one no-vote.
The bill has now been sent to Arizona’s House of Representatives.
If the bill is adopted, Arizona would become the first state in the U.S. to accept cryptocurrency tax payments by the year of 2020, as stated on the public record. The bill would allow taxpayers of the state to use “a payment gateway, such as Bitcoin, Litecoin or any other cryptocurrency recognized by the department, using electronic peer-to-peer systems.”

An Italian cryptocurrency exchange called BitGrail said Friday that it lost about 17 million tokens of a cryptocurrency called Nano, with a market value of about $170 million.
