Knez sorry I missed your request to be let know when Trump started to talk. I guess You did not miss much as he really said nothing at all.

Markets hoping for something positive from G20. That is looking to me like a long shot. Then you never know. Im not really sure what happened after the Mnuchin interview. It was very early for the U.S. It sounds to me like Mnuchin was taking a positive view of the talks and China pushed back.

Any thots on Merkel-Macron split on Weber appointment

If the EC presidency doesn't go to Weber would the ECB go to a German?

Seems to be taking a bit long to sort things out

Trump to speak shortly on Fox Business TV. Recall he favors a weaker currency.

Powell really did not say much yesterday. Perhaps that was the big news. Early on he warned that what he was going to say would be based on the Fed decision on June 19.

Bottom line, he seemed to be disabusing the markets of any possibility of a 50bp cut, but did keep alive the likelihood of a pre-preemptive 25 bp ease. What comes later will be based on future developments. In relative terms, this should be constructive for the USD.

Aside from Durable Goods, the U.S. data calendar is relatively light today.

london red  07:34:35 GMT - 06/26/2019
euro may make hourly reversal here to retest 200dma and poss 11320/25. staying below 114 keeps st downside in play.mkt should eventually retest high.

london red  06:08:31 GMT - 06/26/2019
yen. should be able to buy dollars against 107.24/25 with a tgt of 200hma c 107.87. as for euro looks like needs to test downside some more. unlikely to see abv 114 before a 11320/25 test and maybe 11280/85.

Fed ease will not much of a stimulus

GVI Trader john  20:43:02 GMT - 06/25/2019
interesting comment I heard this afternoon post-Powell. Commentator said that U.S. rates are already near zero Therefore Fed ease will not much of a stimulus. On the other hand, there is zero risk of a Fed hike.

london red  17:09:08 GMT - 06/25/2019
200dma test just about done. just about. either way, its a reasonable pullback off the high. hourly candle needs a nice long tail otherwise may see deeper setback to 11320/25. only below 11275/80 the area of fri low and daily cloud top, is pair done with upside.

GVI Trader john  17:00:24 GMT - 06/25/2019
Bullard just done...

GVI Trader john  16:57:44 GMT - 06/25/2019
FWIW Bullard is still speaking...

london red  16:55:28 GMT - 06/25/2019
and lets not forget bullard was the most dovish at recent meet given he called for 25bps while the rest didn't.

GVI Trader john  16:52:38 GMT - 06/25/2019
You always have to wonder if these guys are just speaking for themselves or the Fed.

eurgbp climbing, pressuring gbpusd lower and giving eurusd a lift. This suggests the bet is still on for Boris and greater risk for a hrard Brexit.

Livingston nh  12:58:37 GMT - 06/25/2019
Powell needs to rein in the CRAZIES that are yakking about a 50bp cut next month - I think that's been helping the EUR // G20 and XI likely to disappoint -- await the reorganization in EU and Q2 US earnings and stats

GVI Trader john  12:47:44 GMT - 06/25/2019
Same question as yesterday after EURUSD apparently has run into a barrier above 1.1400 (1.1412). I have not forgotten the Draghi message on June 6. What has changed?

Fed Chair Powell is due to speak later. Unsure if he will comment on policy. Have to be prepared just in case.

114 was hit earlier. no stops triggered but no real downside either, suggests more upside to 11425 at least. key res in 11426/35/40/47/50 area. a break there would be a higher high and point to a top around 115xx. the next high is 11570. only a break here threatens a return to a 115-120 range. for now would look to fade by key res and pick up the shallow dips while 200dma supporting.

I am the same I think it is struggling to push through 114.00 but we haven't been here for a while so concerned about a big push through. Any advice is welcome

Range work in EURUSD today recent range has been 1.13920 to 1.1380. EURUSD close to its 58960 HOD. Looks like equities are looking for direction. 10s 2.0260%.

GVI Trader john  10:04:22 GMT - 06/24/2019

EURUSD
Entry: Target: Stop:
A couple of weeks ago ECB President sounded very bearish the Eurozone economy. Markets agreed and then turned major sellers of the EUR. Subsequently, on June 19, the Fed turned more dovish and market participants suddenly turned bearish the USD. While the U.S. economy might be slowing it is in nowhere as bad shape as the EZ.

So the question of the day is whether the EURUSD is just in a correction or can it continue to advance?

Your comments and or proposed trading strategies are welcomed. Don't forget your EURGBP views.
