“Clearly there are substantial and important differences still to be bridged but we’re getting on with it,” Johnson told reporters. “The likelihood of a deal is very much determined by our friends and partners in the EU - there’s a deal there to be done if they want to do it." - rtrs

barnier said essentially the same thing about the UK side.

Jkt Abel  14:48:26 GMT - 11/27/2020
Told you gbpusd is going above 13350 again. This thing will never go down. Every dips bought.

london red  11:25:47 GMT - 11/27/2020
in a nutshell eu sells more ggods to uk than uk does. uk is mostly about financial services. in percentage terms its the other way around but some individual countries are really on the hook and in isolation will suffer more than uk. eg spain ireland. eu as a whole is cushioned which is why they are ready to throw ireland under a bus.

shawn

they want volatility, as soon such arrives they already make their money by selling the options to the ones buying "protection" popping of their fear. some things do not change.

kl shawn  11:11:32 GMT - 11/27/2020
red, but isnt it also what the EU wants by rebasing euro with their endless NIRP policy?

london red  11:09:32 GMT - 11/27/2020
cos he and eu is bat$hit scared of no deal happening. they meddle with the optics so that it looks like the uk is doing the begging but its not. the eu is desperate to avoid furtger falliut after covid. for the uk, its just a drop in the ocean after the major covid disruption that it is still working through. what better why to recover than by rebasing sterling

kl shawn  11:08:47 GMT - 11/27/2020
lets try long cable again with this 13320-40 support zone

kl shawn  10:55:08 GMT - 11/27/2020
well if he is not optimistic, why bother travelling to London? wasting taxpayers' money?
maybe he is playing psywar with the UK side by exposing it to media first?

Barnier Heads to London for Brexit Talks, Warns of Disagreements

U.K. and European Union officials will resume face-to-face trade talks this weekend with Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator, warning that big disagreements between the two sides persist.

Barnier told diplomats from the bloc’s 27 governments in a private meeting on Friday that he isn’t particularly optimistic about securing a deal, but he will continue to try for a few more days, according to officials with knowledge of the discussions. He will travel to London later in the day ...

do me a favour barnier: make it very brief

barnier de-confines on friday. this EU prince had the cheek to tell frost that he will sulk and not travel to london unless UK makes concessions

I suppose GBP should pop some if word gets out barnier bought travel ticket BUT I am still betting the brits will be happy to get shot of barnier (ie no brexit deal)
