Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla lets slip what the last 3 years of economic destruction was really all about.
File under 'We'll make them an offer they can't refuse'
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In April, 2021, the world learned that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had been negotiating the biggest contract ever sealed for 1.1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines
Pfizer is now suing Poland - which, under the EU deal struck between von der Leyen and Bourla, obligated the Polish government to purchase 60 million more doses than it did.
Pfizer's lawsuit, potentially amounting to €1.2 billion, presents a formidable challenge for Tusk's administration. This move by Pfizer is not just about recouping losses but sending a stark message to other nations considering contract breaches.
"Pfizer and BioNTech are seeking to hold Poland to its commitments for COVID-19 vaccine orders placed by the Polish Government, as part of their contract to supply the European Union signed in May 2021," a Pfizer spokesperson told Politico, adding that BioNTech is joining the lawsuit.
According to Polish newspaper Gazeta Prawa, Pfizer brought the civil case before a Brussels court because the doses were purchased through EU joint procurement contracts, drawn up under Belgian law. -Politico

Can Europe Become Western Again?
Victor Davis Hanson-November 22, 2023
For the first time in a millennium, Europe no longer plays a critical role in promoting Western civilization nor in world history at large.
Ostensibly it should. Some 750 million people live on the European subcontinent.
They're going to roll this one out again---2024 is throw everything at 'em even stuff that failed the first time and haas been proven to NOT work. Get 'em arguing about than on Da NUZ--fills out the limited time/and brain capacity of the viewers.
***WHO Recommends Masks, Social Distancing In China Amid Mystery Pneumonia Outbreak
The World Health Organization (WHO) is recommending that people in China wear masks, socially distance and stay home if they're unwell, as cases of an 'undiagnosed pneumonia' has been detected in hospitals in Beijing and Liaoning - located roughly 500 miles northeast of the capital.
According to reports, healthcare facilities are "overwhelmed" with sick children, whose schools are on the verge of suspending classes. Meanwhile, the situation prompted an alert from ProMed, the disease surveillance system which similarly sounded the alarm when COVID-19 was an emerging mystery infection in Wuhan towards the end of 2019.
If we can agree on nothing else, you must grant that Western Civ needs to have its head examined............
Western Civ is like a Sarah Lawrence grad with a nose-ring, trained up to despise her own history and culture, trafficking with the incubi of barbarism — the romance of “edginess” — while playing with razor blades in anticipation of her own glorious suicidal psychodrama. There, I have explained The New York Times and The New Yorker Magazine to you, and thus exactly what is wrong with them trying to explain the world to you.

Summary
US president Biden and president of China Xi Jinping met each other this week, for the first time since November 2022
The US-Sino relationship has deteriorated since the Trump administration
Areas of tensions between both nations include security, trade investments and territorial issues amongst others
While the meeting did deliver some concrete results it is unlikely that we will see a significant improvement of US-Sino relations for the foreseeable future.

CNN reports the US Postal Service lost $6.5 billion last year. It predicted it would break even.
The US Postal Service lost $6.5 billion in its just-completed fiscal year, delivering a blow to the service’s hopes of a financial turnaround.
"Postmaster General Louis DeJoy blamed the loss on inflation raising costs for its operations. It also sent printing prices surging, which significantly reduced the amount of junk mail marketers sent via the mail"

doubt full-----perhaps its Amazon ---the actual delivery service for Non-Prime orders is the USPS aka The Post Office.
--an anecdote----
In order to get 'Free Shipping', to get to the Minimum Order Total Cost---which used to be $25 but is now $35....added a 1oz bottle of Tincture of Iodine(no longer on any of the shelves locally..once was a couple of bucks at most---a$7.79 1oz bottle was added to an order.
USPS Tracking order as sent by AMZN----the full order was sent in 2 parts. The Iodine was coming from Californa----the customer is on the East Coast----
So the Free Shipped $7.79 Item, back of envelope calculation, Delivered probably 'Cost' several hundred $$$---considering it was put on a plane and flown across the US. But then ****Free Shipping*** courtesy the US Post Office.
--------------------------------------------------------
Rural mail carriers drive around with their little USPS minivans stuffed with Amazon packages......and now comes the holiday gift rush.
I see the US and China meeting as a promotional advertisement. XI and Biden should be able to handle what they discussed with a phone call.
Biden used it as a political ploy to point the finger at China over illicit drug exportation through the gaping border of the US and subsequent economic damage he has approved of from the start, and XI used it as a symbolic image to show the world that China wishes to continue to establish itself as a more trusted destination for international investment and trade.
I see XI accomplishing what he should have in that (meeting). The end result should be a tone of stability in shipping and trade, as well as increased investment in China over time, and perhaps, some currency stability.
